Mark Combs Hair Donation to Beautiful Lengths

For the past two years, I have been growing my hair with the sole purpose of donating it. People find the concept admirable, but not many fully grasp the magnitude of it. I just wanted to take a moment to tell my story and what this donation means to me.

On June 18, 2010, my best friend Mark Combs lost his seven-month battle with Stage 4 melanoma. Throughout the whole process, Mark never once lost hope and refused to let what he was going through change his attitude on life. As a coach and an athlete, Mark wasn’t familiar with giving up and he didn’t plan on starting anytime soon, no matter how stacked the odds were against him.

It’s hard to relay just how inspirational and truly amazing Mark Combs was. He was a selfless individual who never stopped trying to help others. Even when he was undergoing treatment for his melanoma, Mark found a way to continue lending a hand. He allowed researchers to use him as a human Guinea pig in order to further treatment opportunities in the field of cancer research.

Although he never got to witness his sacrifices come to fruition, Mark’s noble acts paid off. On August 17, 2011, the FDA approved Zelboraf and companion diagnostic testing for late-stage melanoma.

For additional information about Mark as well as the new melanoma treatment. , feel free to visit his Facebook page www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1038363087&sk=wall

I am donating my hair in honor of Mark A. Combs. I would like for his name to appear as the donating party.
